Pear and Gorgonzola Salad
There’s a reason this salad is such a classic-it’s a no-fuss salad that uses 5 delicious ingredients. The sweet pear balances the salty blue cheese, and the colors are vibrant. We eat with our eyes, after all! Try this 5-ingredient salad for lunch with a slice of bakery sourdough bread dipped in olive oil.
What (your ingredients):
2-3 cups green leaf lettuce, washed and dried
1 Anjou pear, cut into bite-sized pieces
2 tablespoons crumbly Gorgonzola
1/2 tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 tablespoons good balsamic vinegar
Hint: I used a Blackberry Ginger balsamic from a specialty oil and vinegar store. Specialty olive oils and vinegars add unexpected flavors to your favorite dishes
How (your directions):
Simply assemble your salad, layering the pear and blue cheese over the greens, and drizzle with your homemade 2-ingredient dressing.
Enjoy!
Why (the science): This salad checks all the right vitamin and mineral boxes, as it is a rich source of vitamin A, vitamin C, and calcium, and a good source of iron! Seriously, take a look at the Pear and Gorgonzola Salad - Nutrition Label
P.S. Thank you, Brewers Organics for the organic pear and green lettuce that made this salad burst with flavor!
